WHAT IS WAGYU BEEF?   

    
Wagyu Beef takes its name from two words, “WA” meaning Japanese, and “GYU” meaning OX,
Green Pasture Meat Co. Proudly stocks three of the best brands of Wagyu beef available in Australia today, these brands include, Oakleigh Ranch, Kobe Cuisine, and Yambinya from Tasman Group.

All our Wagyu Beef are fed on rations designed by Japanese Feedmasters, for periods of between 350 days to 500 days, this particular breed of cattle are genetically predisposed to intense marbling, and produces a higher percentage of monounsaturated fat than any other breed of cattle in the world, wagyu beef is naturally enriched with omega 3 and omega 6 monounsaturated fats.

The marbling is graded on a scale of 0-9 with 9, being the highest in the Aus Meat Grading system, therefore the most valuable, although most of the marble score 9 cuts are reserved for the Japanese and Korean market; Green Pasture Meat Co. Has access to most of these high grade cuts, we also stock a large amount of the lower graded cuts, which are a good entry level product.

Wagyu is also higher in conjugated linoleic acid which has anti-carcinogenic properties, as well as being an anti-inflammatory agent.
